Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly successful FMCG business to appoint a Site Finance Manager for one of their business units on the outskirts of Glasgow.

The business is looking to recruit an accountant with experience in the FMCG sector who can advise and support the Senior Leadership Teams with insightful, relevant and evidence based information.

The Site Financial Manager role is a standalone position, taking ownership of the financial performance of a subsidiary business within a group. This part of the company has an annual turnover of £10m. As the only member of finance based at the site it is imperative that the post-holder builds positive and effective working relationships across the business, enabling them to influence non-finance managers.

The Site Finance Manager position requires an accountant who ideally comes with experience of the FMCG sector and enjoys working closely with non-finance management.

 

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows: 

  • Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Ideally, experience in a similar role within a food manufacturing business
  • Excellent analysis and financial interrogation skills
  • Full grasp of production margins, bill of materials and variance
  • Strong commercial acumen with understanding of an NPD process
  • Ability to meet tight reporting deadlines
  • Advanced Excel experience with an ability to work with large, complex spreadsheets
  • Ability to work individually and as a member of the site management team
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate with non-financial managers

The main duties and responsibilities will involve:

  • Production and analysis of weekly & monthly profit and loss (P&L) accounts and communication of report to the Senior Team and wider business
  • Investigate significant variances and analyse trends to influence and advise the business in regards to; accruals, pre-payments, overheads, variances to budget, weekly margins against standard, changes to recipes and the accurate recording of yields & waste
  • Management of business information system to extract, analyse and communicate efficiencies, run-rates, productivity, variances and trends
  • Creation and management of BOM system including bi-annual review, reviewing; efficiencies, waste, cost in preparation of the budget and forecast, material and labour usage
  • Take ownership of the financial evaluation of commercial NPD projects from concept to launch and beyond, including; involvement in weekly NPD meetings, capturing information regarding new SKU’s, full involvement in the creation and costing of products to ensure correct pricing and margins achieved for product ventures
  • Creation, review and analysis of rolling monthly commercial forecasts, budget preparation, submissions and re-forecasts
  • Creation and management of profitability by customer and product, ensuring the profitability of the business is maintained and margins are accurately recorded and maintained
  • Review of the monthly commercial finance pack
  • Preparation of pre and post promotional activity analysis
  • Profit & Loss Account: The creation, management and communication of key, insightful and evidence-based information is essential to support and guide the business in making the correct decisions to maintain profitability. Utilising information to provide meaningful narrative information to advise and support the business as well as deal with ad-hoc queries.
