Group Treasurer – Baxters Food Group

Edinburgh

£65,000 - £80,000 + bonus + benefits

Baxters Food Group is a fourth generation privately owned entrepreneurial business which specialises in the manufacturing of premium quality branded food products.  With an esteemed history in Scottish business, Baxters has evolved into a global organisation with business activities covering Europe, Canada, Australia and USA.  In recent years, Baxters has undertaken 10 global acquisitions, the most of which, Wornick, is seen as a significant move into the North American market.

Due to this domestic and international growth, a new role of Group Treasurer has been created within the group finance function.  Based in the soon to be opened corporate headquarters in Edinburgh this is an exciting role which will shape treasury strategy and operations for the group well into the future.  Reporting to the Group Head of Finance, this position will have important stakeholder management responsibilities across group finance, the Executive Board and external advisors/banks.

 

Group Cash Management

  • Develop and deliver global cash flow forecasting to ensure effective cash management across the Group
  • Daily management of material cash transactions in coordination with divisional finance teams
  • Ensure the Group’s liquidity & cash flow covenant requirements are met

Group Treasury Reporting

  • Manage hedge accounting and provide expertise into hedge accounting across the Group
  • Monitor hedge effectiveness, documentation and testing of hedges
  • Prepare disclosure notes under IAS39 and IFRS7
  • Identify and implement appropriate Treasury Management software as required

Banking & Funders

  • Provide on-going support of Group bank facilities including documentation changes, covenant compliance certification and provision of management information
  • Assist in building strong relationships and contacts across existing and potential funders
  • Management of banking syndicate, covenant compliance and financial projections

Covenant Compliance

  • Assist with future negotiations on covenants and banking facilities
  • Provide technical accounting input into development of the Group’s Business Intelligence and Planning software as a basis for proactive covenant compliance forecasting

Treasury Policy

  • Develop the Group’s treasury policy with on-going improvement, monitoring & control
  • Manage Inter Group Loan and Dividend arrangements and documentation

Financial Instruments

  • Undertake derivative, cash management and other treasury transactions including Forward exchange contracts, currency options and SWAPs

 

Desired Candidate Profile

Applicants must be professionally qualified accountants with a proven treasury background, and ideally an accreditation from the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT/MCT).

Key skills and qualities:

 

  • Experience gained in a large corporate organisation with international treasury implications
  • Credible communicator with first class skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to deliver technical information in a straightforward fashion which will instil confidence
  • Robustness of character in order to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • FMCG experience is desirable although not essential
