Rutherford Cross has partnered with Loch Lomond Group to recruit a Group Accountant to join either their Catrine or Alexandria offices. This position offers the successful candidate an opportunity to immediately value add to the business and join in a broad capacity. The team where this role sits is very experienced and as result this will allow the position-holder a chance to both professionally and personally develop.

The Group Accountant position represents a fantastic opportunity for a tenacious and robust individual with first class technical accounting capabilities coupled with the ability to interpret and process complex financial information. This is a particularly broad finance role that requires an individual who can influence positively, while meeting the demands of a diverse stakeholder group. This is a critical hire where culture fit, attitude, and flexibility, are as important, if not more important, than technical accountancy and finance skills.

The Role:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management
  • Responsibility for all journals including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts
  • Assist with year-end accounts production including liaison with external auditors
  • Assist with stock and production accounting with a focus on cost control and reduction
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting records and financial systems
  • Review financial controls and procedures, to deliver efficiency improvements and remove duplication
  • Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders on both sites
  • Ensure returns for Corporation Tax, VAT and other relevant taxes are submitted, payments made on time and all relevant regulations are complied with
  • Manage relationships with HMRC, auditors, tax advisers and other parties as directed by the Financial Controller
  • Involvement in a number of ongoing and future projects

 

The Candidate:

The Group Accountant position requires a professionally qualified Accountant who possesses excellent organisational, interpersonal, and technical skills. The ability to build relationships with and influence internal stakeholders including working alongside the operations and commercial teams, is a key requirement, as is first class technical accounting skills.  As the group is about to undertake a period of growth, there is a significant focus on continuous improvement, automation of systems and reporting, and project management.

A strong track record of achievement both professionally and academically is required given the nature and requirements of this position. Commercial acumen and an understanding of key business drivers are also essential as is a ‘can do’ attitude

Remuneration:

A salary of c£45,0000-£50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
