Rutherford Cross is currently retained on a Financial Controller role with Henry Schein in Dumfries.

Henry Schein, a Fortune 500 company is the world’s largest provider of health care products and services to office based dental, animal health and medical practitioners. The company is a Fortune worlds most admired company and ranks first on the fortune list in the wholesalers within the Health care industry. Group revenues are $10.4 billion per annum and the business employs around 18,000 employees around the world.

Globally, Henry Schein’s Animal Health business contributed $2.9 billion of net sales in 2014, equating to 27.9% of the overall groups sales. The Animal Health business is the fastest growing across the group.

The site based in Dumfries previously named Dunlops was acquired by Henry Schein in 2007. The Dumfries site alone turned over £320 million last year and the UK Henry Schein Animal Healthcare business commands 1/3 of the overall UK Animal Health care market.

 

The Opportunity

The CFO is looking to recruit an experienced and highly motivated Financial Controller to compliment the team of 15 currently in place.

An overview of responsibilities includes:

  • Accurate and timely preparation of monthly accounting statements including group reporting through Hyperion.
  • Additional quarterly statutory accounts information to support the group statutory reporting functions.
  • Detailed annual budgeting process
  • SOX/internal audit compliance and with liaison with external auditors
  • Rolling P&L, cash forecasts and FX management with related commentaries to senior management.
  • Credit control and financial input to sales/administration for new customer wins.
  • Control of CAPEX and working capital

The Candidate:

The Financial Controller position requires a professionally qualified accountant who possesses excellent managerial and technical skills. A background in a related sector would be useful, but more important is that the individual has the ability to operate effectively in a large corporate environment and has experience of implementing new processes driven by customer needs, efficiencies or acquisitions.It is critical that the Financial Controller can effectively support the Directors, while consistently meeting the needs of stakeholders both within and external to the business. In particular, it is crucial they can take responsibility for the delivery of accurate and high quality financial information while organising and contribution heavily to the leading of the finance function. This is especially pertinent to the accounting requirements for Henry Schein which will be under the scrutiny of the US parent company.

Dumfries is the capital of Dumfries & Galloway, 70 miles from Glasgow and 35 miles from Carlisle. The nearest airports to Dumfries are Glasgow (83 miles) and Edinburgh (77 miles).
