Rutherford Cross is delighted to be partnering with C&C Group to recruit a Commercial Finance Manager.

C&C Plc is a manufacturer, marketer and distributor of branded cider, beer, wine, soft drinks and bottled water. The Group manufactures the Tennent’s beer brand, Bulmers the leading Irish cider brand, Magners the premium international cider brand and the C&C Brands range of English ciders.

C&C Group owns and manufactures Woodchuck and Hornsby’s, two of the leading craft cider brands in the United States. It also distributes a number of beer brands in Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland, primarily for Anheuser-Busch InBev, and owns Wallaces Express, a Scottish drinks wholesaler.

This role has a strong emphasis on commercial finance, and will be instrumental in shaping the future direction of the business. This post holder is accountable for managing performance through commercial policies, producing insightful reporting, and reviewing and challenging commercial teams. This position will also assess new business deal opportunities and be accountable for maximising business efficiency and productivity. This will involve business planning and assisting the Finance Director in setting the commercial policy framework.

It is expected that the post-holder will seek progression within the business after a successful 18-24 month period.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • To ensure that a robust control environment exists within off-trade commercial finance
  • Manage the integrity of accounting records and financial information relating to this channel
  • Provide support to the off-trade commercial team, working closely alongside the Head of Off Trade Finance and the Head of Take Home Sales
  • Evaluate customer proposals to ensure all deals are aligned with commercial strategy and authorised within guidelines
  • Provide commercial insight, highlighting issues and recommending remedial action
  • Proactively manage cash collection within the channel
  • Manage customer and brand profitability by trade channel versus budget and prior year
  • Prepare monthly management accounts including information for channel reviews and period review pack
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for discounts, accruals and prepayments
  • Prepare weekly profit estimate and liaise with off-trade commercial team to explain movements
  • Work closely with the reporting accountant, providing weekly profit estimates and variance information
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly financial reviews, budgets and longer term strategic planning
  • Attend customer meetings from time to time
  • Manage, develop and assist in the progression of the off-trade analyst within the finance team

As previously stated the UK Finance Director expects a highly driven individual will seek progression within the business after an 18-24 month period.

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

  • A qualified accountant (CA/CIMA/ACCA)
  • Degree educated with a track record of high academic achievement
  • Highly adept at implementing new financial process and procedures
  • Excellent analytical capability and a commercial outlook
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, able to deal with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail and the willingness to take accountability
  • A highly motivated, self-starter

Remuneration

 

Salary:                                  Up to £35,000-£39,000

 

Pension:                              Defined Contribution scheme with Employer contributions of up to 5%

Medical:                              Private Medical scheme available

Working Hours:                35 hours per week

Holidays:                             30 days + 4 public holidays
