Launched in 2007 by two local entrepreneurs, James Watt and Martin Dickie, their simple mission was and continues to be about making other people as passionate about great craft beer as they are. Core to the mission was producing beer of genuine flavour and craftsmanship without the industrial techniques of many modern brewers.
In 2013, BrewDog moved from its original facility in Fraserburgh and to its new world class HQ; a 5.5-acre state of the art eco-brewery in Ellon, just north of Aberdeen. This is one of the most technologically advanced and environmentally friendly breweries in the world and has allowed the business was able to improve every element of production.
In 2018, BrewDog was listed in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 for a record seventh consecutive year. No other company has achieved this, and it is testament to their continued incredible growth both in the UK and internationally.
BrewDog currently employ 1,500 people globally, increased our revenue by 55% in 2018, and sell beer in over 60 countries. They operate 45 bars in the UK, 21 in Europe, 4 in USA and 3 elsewhere in the world!
Private equity firm, TSG Consumer Partners acquired a 22% stake in the company for approximately £213 million which has helped the business grow internationally with the announcement of a $30million production brewery and tap room in Brisbane, Australia announced in February 2018. The new site in Australia will complement the organisations first BrewDog Hotel and brewery in Ohio, US. The business has also recently announced in the last couple of weeks the plan to convert a brewery in Berlin, Germany to secure a firm footing in Europe.
BrewDog pride themselves on their innovative crowdfunding schemes which has seen £67million raised since 2009. There are over 97,000 “equity punks” invested in the business globally. In 2018 BrewDog’s brand was valued at £866million resulting in the only beer brand to appear in the brandzs most valuable brands in the UK alongside ASOS, SKY and Dyson.

Our Daily Mission Defined
Outlining Our Craft Beer Manifesto
For all of us at BrewDog, craft beer is more than something to be enjoyed on a Friday night when the week has come to an end. It is a way of life. If you had to distil this point into a single word, it would be “passion”: the enthusiasm for being involved in this industry, and for delivering the greatest levels of service and beer quality.
Craft Beer For The People
Redefining British Drinking Culture
BrewDog was born with the aim to revolutionize the beer industry and completely redefine British beer-drinking culture. And the best way to start fixing the state of beer was to brew our own.
Ten years later we’ve brewed over 30,000,000 litres of beer, put a BrewDog bar in every corner of the globe, and grown our independent community of investors to over 96,000 beer-loving punks – so our beer will always be made for the people, by the people.
The Brewdog Foundation
Donating £1Million Per Year To Charitable Initiatives
We’re on a mission to change the world of beer, and while we’re at it we want to help you change the world at large. Since 2007, we’ve committed to donating a portion of our profits to fund incredible charitable activities across the world. Through the BrewDog Foundation, we will donate £1m each year to charitable initiatives that our crew want to support – and here’s how you can apply for your project to be one of them.
