Rutherford Cross are thrilled to be working on behalf of our Big-4 client to recruit a Manager for their growing Financial Services Tax team in Manchester. You will be helping clients meet the complex demands of today’s tax environment and will manage relationships with key local clients, both delivering services and introducing deep specialists to them as required. You will also help clients understand the tax implications of political, regulatory, accounting and law changes, assisting in the formation of sustainable strategies to deal with them.

The opportunity

The firm has specific plans to develop and expand by creating a high performing team in Manchester, offering an exceptional service to clients and winning in the local market. As the team is still growing, you will be working very closely with the Partner and other senior members of the team which will allow you to both develop quickly and play a key role in developing the client base.

Joining the Manchester FS team will give you the unique opportunity to help to influence, shape and mould the team whilst gaining invaluable experience. Strong links are also maintained to specialists across all UK offices to share knowledge, stay up to date with the latest trends and gain experience across FS sectors.

Key responsibilities

The types of project you’ll contribute towards will include:

  • Tax reporting & compliance
  • General advisory and applying new tax legislation
  • Impact of regulation and regulatory reporting
  • Tax due diligence and structuring advice
  • Managing relationships with HMRC

Skills and attributes for success

  • Client driven and strategically and commercially aware
  • Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral.

  • Coaching and developing more junior staff

 To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Experience in corporate tax with a large accountancy or law firm, HMRC or in-house tax team
  • Any of the following preferred: ACA / ACCA / CA / CTA (or breadth of knowledge equivalent to CTA, e.g. law qualification)
  • Graduate/graduate-calibre qualifications or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working within financial services sector is preferred, but not essential as sector specific training and on-the-job coaching will be available
