Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working on a retained basis to appoint a Management Accountant with an expanding business in the engineering sector, based in Stirling.

The role of Management Accountant will have a number of characteristics including management and statutory reporting responsibilities as well as building effective working relationships with stakeholders.

This is a key role within the company’s finance function, supporting the Group Financial Controller. Given the exposure of the post, it is essential that an individual has a strong work ethic, taking responsibility for their duties and a willingness to support the finance department on key objectives.

An overview of core responsibilities includes:

  • Assist the Group Financial Controller in the production of the financial reporting for the group's portfolio of 12 trading and property companies
  • Producing and reviewing P&L accounts
  • Manage the production and month end delivery of management accounts, including inputting necessary accruals & prepayments, journals, variance analysis and process improvements, within required deadlines
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of the year end accounts and provision of audit information
  • Oversight of monthly payroll
  • Support the Group Financial Controller in overseeing the work of Assistant Accountants
  • Supporting the business in delivery of its strategic objectives, building strong relationships with key stakeholders in subsidiary businesses and dealing with queries
  • Undertake ad hoc financial analysis as required.
  • Continuous improvement in working practices and service delivery
  • Completion of corporate tax returns and VAT
  • Occasional travel to the group's locations across UK and internationally as the group expands

 

 

The role of Management Accountant requires a confident individual with proven experience of producing management accounts, preparing P&Ls, balance sheets and supporting the completion of tax returns. The successful candidate will be able to build effective relationships across the group and will be able to liaise confidently with external suppliers. This individual will have the determination to play a key role in a fast-growing business.

 

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

  • Qualified / Finalist CIMA or ACCA
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Good decision-making, problem solving skills, organisational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment & commitment to work to deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills to support business decision making processes
  • Take the initiative in identifying opportunities for and implementing improvements
  • Commercial acumen and a positive, "can-do" attitude that will inspire the team around them
  • Understanding of the culture of a rapidly-growing group and the high level of commitment required
  • Familiarity with one or more of the group's ERP systems desirable but not essential (CAT, Emax, Factory Master, iZettle)
  • Prior use of Sage or Xero would be advantageous

Salary:                    £40,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)

 

Pension:                  Employer’s contribution of 4%

 

Holidays:                 20 days plus 8 statutory days. 1 additional day for each complete year                             of service up to a max of 25 days.

 

Life Cover:              Death in service benefit of 2 x annual salary

 

Working hours:        38 hrs pw with core hours of 9.30am to 4.00pm

 

Bonus:                   Discretionary, based on company and individual performance
