Head of Tax

A newly created job – Head of Tax, based in Livingston

Partnered with Energy Assets Group, we are pleased to bring this rare opportunity to the market. The Head of Tax will be responsible for taking accountability for all tax activities to include compliance, planning, structuring of corporate transactions, risk management and reporting.  The job is based in Livingston, commutable from either Edinburgh or Glasgow, but the company is working remotely due to the ongoing pandemic.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will develop and maintain an effective tax strategy, formulating overall tax philosophy and approach to compliance, tax planning and tax risk management.  You will be responsible for defining strategic tax objectives, key tax related tasks and areas of focus.  You will manage tax compliance and take an active role in tax planning, providing strategic tax analysis of significant anticipated deals and investment projects.

The job requires an individual who can continuously monitor changes in tax legislation and industry specific regulations, coordinating political and industry tax lobbying.  You will develop tax risk management standards, policies and procedures and manage any tax disputes which may arise.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Corporate Tax, obtained in either a Big 4, top tier accounting firm or in an industry setting.  Ideally, you will have spent some time in industry. You will be a qualified (CA or CTA) and you will have superior analytical skills, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills with sensitivity to different cultures.  You will be able to build trusted relationships within the organization and with all relevant external stakeholders.
