Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be engaged by a leading, Scottish business which has undergone a significant amount of growth over the last few years. They are now looking to recruit a Group Financial Risk and Assurance Manager sitting alongside the finance function to lead the group wide internal audit function and to provide assurance that financial risks in the Group are appropriately and efficiently managed.

This is a newly created position and will focus on building out the risk assurance and audit function, you will lead independent reviews that focus on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, controls, information systems and operations. There will be a focus on building stakeholder relationships and communicating key audit/review findings across the business.

  • Creating, building and delivering an effective audit plan
  • Developing and championing the audit methodology
  • Overseeing the co-source to ensure that the highest financial risks are identified and controlled efficiently
  • Training and developing finance and operational team members in best-practice auditing techniques
  • Ensuring that management responses and follow-up actions are completed efficiently
  • Reporting results of reviews and other risk management actions to senior management and the Audit Committee
  • Identifying and promoting financial process improvements and standardisation projects across the business

To be considered for this position you will ideally maintain a professional accountancy qualification either CA/ACCA/ACA/CIA/IIA or equivalent and will have experience working within a large or complex corporate organisation either within industry or the profession. Given that this is the first risk assurance/audit role within the business you will ideally have already gained experience within a similar position and will be skilled in applying internal auditing and management principles with ability to comprehend and interpret policies, procedures, laws and regulations.

You will need to be commercially astute, have excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work in an agile manner. You will enjoy working in a fast paced, changing environment and will be driven process and business improvement. Some travel may be required, although this will be limited.
