Description

Due to an internal restructure a new opportunity has arisen for a focused and ambitious candidate to join a hugely successful business in the role of Group Finance Manager.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with strong technical skills and a willingness to learn how the organisation operates. The Group Finance Manager will work closely with FCs and FDs of the larger businesses within the group. In addition to group activities, the successful candidate will be tasked with taking end to end ownership of the accounting functions of two smaller entities. This exposure provides the perfect platform to succeed an FC or FD within one of the group’s larger businesses and ultimately stand an ambitious individual in good stead to potentially become Group FC further down the line.

The position encompasses a combination of key accounting tasks across the group. The group finance team is lean in nature, so it is important that the Group Finance Manager is able to use their initiative to manage changing priorities, in a fast-paced environment. It is likely the successful candidate will have trained in audit with a top ten accountancy firm, and ideally will have gained some industry experience post-qualification.

 

The post-holder will be a confident communicator as they will need to establish their credibility in order to influence a variety of stakeholders across the business. The business has ambitious plans and the role will take ownership of analysis to support strategic decision making and ad-hoc projects as they arise. Given the company’s growth plans, it is highly likely that this role will be provide a platform for the successful candidate to take on a promoted role within the business in the medium term, therefore it is imperative that the successful candidate demonstrates ambition to progress in their career.

  • ICAS, ICAEW qualified
  • First class communications skills
  • Ability to produce clear reports when required
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle changing workload priorities
  • Adept at working on own initiative
  • Highly organised & efficient
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information
  • Evidence of a positive, proactive and flexible approach
  • Ability to undertake industry research and develop wider industry knowledge

The successful candidate will build positive and effective working relationships with FCs and FDs of the group’s core businesses and will produce key information to support strategic decision making. They will be given exposure to work on high profile projects as they arise. The Group Finance Manager will be tasked with maintaining a strong financial control environment whilst also expected to use their initiative to provide insightful analysis.

 

An overview of core responsibilities includes:

 

  • Consolidation and reporting of Group’s cash flow forecasting –weekly
  • Responsibility for monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts of 2 smaller entities
  • Assist in Group year-end / audit process
  • Production of group inter-company summary – collation and resolution
  • Responsibility for tax computation work
  • Preparation of financial models for cash flows and profit projects for new projects
  • Provide financial support to the MDs of group companies including preparation of annual budgets
  • Ad hoc analysis as required

On offer:

Salary: £38,000-£50,000 depending on experience

 

Bonus:                             Annual bonus based on company performance

 

Pension:                           Employee contribution 4% and employer 4%

 

Holidays:                          33 days (including bank holidays)
