Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working with a Scottish Charity based in Edinburgh to fill the role of a Financial Accountant. This is a wide-ranging role suited for a qualified accountant with experience in preparation of statutory and management accounts and working in internal accounting environments

Key Responsibilities

Management accounts and reporting – production of monthly accounts for internal teams and budget holders

Liaising with budget holders and responding to any queries they may have. Presenting and communicating financial documents in a way that is understood by non-finance team members and preparing supporting  financial analysis

Reviewing all monthly income and expenditure reconciliations including year on year analysis, balance sheets and budget

Quarterly review and analysis of investment transactions and drafting summaries

Production of annual accounts – managing year end procedures and productions. Producing supporting schedules and analysis for external auditors and liaising with auditors during visits to provide any information they may need

Budget support – supporting Finance Business Partner, reviewing all templates for distribution. Preparing salary budgets by using existing payroll information, supporting other members of staff to prepare revenue and expenditure budgets.

Producing cash flow projections for the medium and long term. Transferring funds as necessary for short-term cash requirements.

Preparing consolidated reforecasts as required during the year.

Preparing annual Corporation Tax Return

Securing all possible VAT exemptions and ensure compliance with the VAT and Gift Aid legislation as well as maintaining the records.

The Candidate

The organisation require a fully qualified Accountant or qualified by experience accountant with the relevant experience who has highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills as well as being literate with IT software, primarily excel and accounting packages. You will be able to work effectively within a small team yet also independently to produce accounts and other financial information. You will be well organised and able to manage your own workload and conflicting priorities.

On offer will be an opportunity to work with a well know charity and the role will be fully remote to begin with before potentially moving to a hybrid of home and office based next year.
