Rutherford Cross is excited to be retained by Rightdose Healthcare to appoint a Finance Manager, to support the business' continued expansion.

The Company

Rightdose Healthcare Limited is a joint venture between CEO and founder, Kasim Gulzar, Asim Sarwar, Executive Chairman and major shareholder in United Wholesale (Scotland) Limited, Scotland’s largest cash & carry operation with sales of over £230m per annum. Rightdose Healthcare Limited presently consists of a chain of 8 pharmacies in Scotland and has recently re-branded from Honey Pharmacy to Rightdose Pharmacy. The latest set of accounts to July 2019 show a turnover of £8.1m.

The business has ambitious, large-scale expansion plans to diversify its operation by providing an online pharmaceutical distribution service. Significant investment has already been made in new premises and specialist equipment for this enterprise. The trend of consumers moving from away from high street shopping to online, coupled with the increased demand in pharmaceutical products substantiates the business developing this offering.

With significant growth anticipated in the next few years, an experienced Finance Manager is required to improve the accounting controls and produce valuable MI to support future plans. This is an exciting time to join a successful SME on the cusp of significant growth.

The Role

This role of Finance Manager will suit an experienced accountant who enjoys taking ownership of a range of duties and has previously worked in a medium sized business. The role will involve working with a variety of stakeholders including the Senior Management Team.

Responsible To: Finance Director of United Wholesale (Scotland) Ltd.

Location: Victoria Road, Glasgow

Key Responsibilities:

  • Full responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day running of the finance function, taking a hands-on approach
  • Preparation of monthly management, investigating and explaining variances
  • Management of the nominal ledger, including review of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of forecasts and annual budgets, including profit & loss, cash flow and balance sheet forecasts
  • Processing of month end journals, including accruals and prepayments
  • Reconciling bank accounts
  • Issuing supplier statements
  • Production of quarterly VAT returns
  • Processing of payroll journals and payroll reconciliations
  • Taking ownership for credit control
  • System used Sage 200

The Candidate

The Finance Manager position requires a self-motivated and dynamic accountant with prior experience of working in a similar role with an SME. The successful candidate will bring best practice gained from previous employment, identifying and implementing improvements to procedures where possible. A professional qualification is not required for this role.

The individual will possess high attention to detail and a willingness to understand the key drivers of the business. The post holder must be able to build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders and be comfortable liaising with the members of the Senior Management Team.

Remuneration

The role attracts a basic salary in the region of £30,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Final stages will involve meeting the Managing Director.
