The Opportunity
Edwards Engineering is seeking a high calibre, qualified accountant to be appointed into the role of Finance Manager. Based in Perth, the successful individual will be a direct support to the Finance Director and Chief Executive and is a key hire to ensure the ongoing success of the business during this period of significant investment. The Finance Manager will lead on all aspects of financial management, managing the finance team in Perth with the opportunity to support on potential acquisitions when the need presents itself.

Job Description:
Job Title: Finance Manager
Reporting to: Chief Executive
Location: Perth (with travel to other Group companies potentially required)
Position Overview:
The Finance Manager will be an integral part of the Edwards Engineering team in Perth and will report directly into the Chief Executive. As the business continues to grow over time the role will develop and therefore it is key that applicants are flexible and adaptable to those changes. The role will have two (2) direct reports initially and the team may increase over time.

The main duties and responsibilities will involve:
Financial & Management Reporting
- Responsible for overseeing the annual budgeting process
- Delivery of accurate and high-quality management information on a fortnightly basis
- Production and analysis of monthly management accounts with meaningful commentary to be shared with internal stakeholders and external investors
- Overall responsibility for the project accounting of key revenue streams
- Responsible for statutory reporting and corporation tax compliance
- Preparation of rolling 13-week cashflow forecasts and execution of regular payment runs
Systems, Processes & Controls
- Responsible for overseeing credit control
- Maintaining accurate accounting records which meet the requirements of auditors, tax advisors and HMRC
- Ensuring there are robust processes for approving and controlling capital expenditure
- Robust payroll controls for overseeing the payroll process
Team Management
- Develop the finance team so that that they are appropriately motivated and developed to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard
- Conduct regular supervisions and annual appraisals
- Identify development needs and ensure appropriate training is provided
- Pursuing Continuous Improvement
- In the core finance processes
- Potentially through IT based improvements
- Across the business in adjacent functions where appropriate (for example, commercial, procurement and production)
- Supporting Group level initiatives, such as potential acquisitions, when the need presents itself
The Candidate
The Finance Manager position requires a professionally qualified accountant who possesses excellent technical, operational and commercial finance skills. The individual should be primarily “hands-on” to ensure the accurate delivery of a small finance team with the ability to support the Board. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally, are essential.
Applicants will be comfortable working in a demanding environment and can develop, implement and manage effective changes across the finance team and the wider business.
The salary on offer will vary depending on experience.
