Background to the opportunity

 EnerMech are now seeking to recruit an EMEA Tax Manager to be based in Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified tax professional to join a fast paced, growing business. The EMEA Tax Manager is responsible for EMEA Compliance, EMEA Commercial tax advisory and EMEA Tax Accounting and Reporting. The role also involves project and ad hoc work assisting the Tax Director in implementing such other tax improvement projects as the EnerMech business continues to grow.

The Individual

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Business or accounting degree qualified
  • Recognised professional tax and / or accountancy qualification

 

Experience, Competence, Skills and Knowledge

Essential:

  • At least 2-4 year’s relevant PQE
  • Demonstrable international tax experience gained within either top 10 accountancy practice or international business environment

Preferred:

  • Tax experience within international fast-growing organisations
  • Background of promoting understanding of tax concepts to non-tax and non-financial colleagues

  • Confident and professional manner
  • Ability to deliver under pressure to tight deadlines, including working such additional hours as may be required to deliver tasks on time
  • Excellent communication skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders

The Role

EMEA Compliance

  • Preparation and submission of all UK tax computations and returns, including CIR calculation and disclosures, transfer pricing disclosures, CFC review, loss planning, and group relief planning
  • Ensuring all UK claims and elections are made within the time limits allowed
  • Management of our UK R&D process with our third-party advisors. Maximising R&D cash benefit within the acceptable levels of risk for the Group
  • Provide support to the UK finance team on VAT compliance, client VAT queries, and HMRC VAT correspondence
  • Responsible for day-to-day management of all correspondence and responses with HMRC, for all taxes
  • Monitor changes in tax laws that may impact the group’s tax positions
  • Responsible for EMEA region’s transfer pricing monitoring and compliance, including monitoring our internal financing arrangements, management fee arrangements, and sub-contract arrangements throughout the EMEA group
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring EMEA region’s compliance obligations are met for Corporate Tax and Withholding tax, including optimising cash tax costs whilst balancing the requirement to remit funds from the region to Group treasury
  • Responsible for Global monitoring and management of Enertax, the Group’s in-house tax compliance SharePoint system
  • Ensuring monthly EMEA tax report is prepared on time for the Tax Director

EMEA Commercial tax advisory

  • Review of tax clauses in tender documents/ contract proposals and advice on mitigating the Group’s tax risk, whilst optimising our tax exposure and remaining commercially competitive
  • Responsible for identifying all relevant tax costs of doing business in a foreign location for any particular entity based in the EMEA region, including all cross border WHT, irrecoverable PIT, social security, import taxes and other sales taxes in particular. Reviewing and advising on specific cost models required by the commercial team
  • Assess tax accounting implications of any proposed transactions
  • For any work in new or complex foreign jurisdictions, responsible for engaging with local tax advisors to ensure all tax risks are well understood and communicated to the business. Responsible for implementing any agreed tax planning solutions agreed with the local tax advisors, in consultation with the Tax Director
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce the effective tax rate across the EMEA region

EMEA Tax Accounting and Reporting

  • Responsible for ongoing monthly management and maintenance of the EMEA region’s tax accounts within NAV, including identification and correction of any mis postings through the year as well as ensuring regular updated tax positions are posted throughout the year on a forecast basis.

Remuneration

Basic Salary: £Competitive

Company Pension: 5% employer contribution and 4% employee contribution

Holiday Entitlement: 29 days plus 4 statutory
