Description

Rutherford Cross is delighted to be retained by Arnold Clark, a market-leading car dealership, for the acquisition of several new Branch Accountants for their business. The role offers an excellent opportunity to get involved with an exciting large-scale business that puts its staff at the centre of everything it does.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Staff Management & Training: Ensure all accounts and sales administration staff under your remit are motivated, fully trained and understand their objectives to meet the department’s goals
  • Balance Sheet: Ensure fully reconciled monthly and all ageing & significant balances are explained
  • Month End: Accurate reporting of management accounts with all significant movements from expectation, budget and previous year investigated & explained
  • Key Controls: All key control submissions are accurate, fully reconciled and explain unusual transactions
  • Debtors: Amounts due under the branch remit should be chased, understanding when they will be received, ensuring the group credit control policy is being followed
  • Vehicle Stock: The stock check should be fully reconciled monthly to ensure we have comfort that all vehicles have been verified. Vehicle stock should be reviewed weekly to ensure stock is being accurately reported
  • Bank & Cashflow: The bank statement should be fully posted and reconciled daily. All future transactions are reported on the cashflow monitor
  • Purchase Ledger: The branch purchase ledger should be reviewed weekly to ensure it is up to date and costs are being accurately reported
  • VAT: All submissions are complete and accurate
  • Reporting: All submissions, internal & external, should be accurate and submitted within the deadlines set
  • Company Controls & Policies: Ensure all Group financial and non-financial policies and controls are followed; and any weakness identified, reported and rectified where possible
  • Manufacturer & Franchise: Understand manufacturer systems. Have good knowledge of manufacturer bonus campaigns
  • Management Team: Be a key member of the branch management team to help identify how the branch can improve in all areas
  • Any queries and issues when carrying out the duties above should be raised with your Area or Franchise Accountant

 

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be a fully Qualified Accountant or suitable Qualified by Experience Accountant
  • Be able to adapt to a high-paced working environment, prioritise and be flexible
  • Be comfortable displaying confidence when dealing with a variety of stakeholders
  • Have well-rounded knowledge of producing management accounts
  • Have previous experience in dealing with stock and stock analysis
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be happy to come into the office and be involved with the team
  • Have influencing skills
  • Be able to manage conflicting priorities
  • Be able to manage multiple finances and timelines
  • Be able to work on your own
