Edinburgh Airport has retained Rutherford Cross to recruit a Commercial Analyst into the Retail and Food & Beverage business. This role presents a rare offering within the Scottish market, the perfect opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to develop their career in a fast paced and challenging environment. Role Overview:

This is a newly created role at the Airport and the successful candidate will be targeted with understanding the airport’s customer base as well as making informed decisions about services and products which passengers want to enjoy. Interested parties should have experience in “making sense” of large amounts of data generated from everyday operations and turning this information into value add solutions to better the performance of the Airport. The role will supply in-depth diligence, analysis and business modelling to facilitate optimal business performance and identify growth opportunities.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Assemble sets of assumptions and explore the consequences of each set
  • Develop new mathematical or statistical models to be used for analysis
  • Contribute to the longer term 5-year plan forecasting process
  • Provide the team with accurate and timely KPIs
  • Provide analysis of day to day performance with insight on conversions and sales and pro-actively make recommendations
  • Work with the performance managers to use appropriate tools and methodology to successfully work with business partners, to grow penetration and basket spend
  • Work closely with the business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making
  • Merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports to colleagues, customers or the wider organization
  • Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results
  • Create clear reports that tell compelling stories about how customers work with the business
  • Undertake industry benchmarking and competitor analysis
  • Provide support in the development of business cases
  • Provide administration support for the contract process
  • Participate in appropriate working groups and projects

Qualifications:

  • A degree or post graduate technical or analytical based subject (e.g. Maths, Economics, Statistics, Accounting and Finance etc)
  • Qualified CA/ACCA with circa 1-3 years’ experience
  • Prior experience in transaction services/business improvement is preferable
  • Highly numerically skilled & comfortable with manipulating numbers
  • Able to articulate complex analysis into concise narrative
  • Highly skilled in Excel, with evidence of models developed, maintained and presented
  • Excellent power point skills, with ability to present complex data in a compelling way
  • Able to spot commercial opportunity, and be passionate about performance
  • Experience in influencing Key decision makers and communicating effectively

Framework and Boundaries:

  • To ensure all activities within the role are focused upon delivering against Edinburgh’s commercial KPI’s
  • To participate in projects and working groups, carrying out any other duties that maybe outside the standard remit for personal development or as may be reasonably required by the company
  • Responsible for personal compliance with company Health and Safety Policies, ensuring safe working practices to minimise risk to self, staff and customers
  • To comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role
  • To ensure that any systems/procedures introduced by the Company are effectively implemented and adhered to
