Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working on a retained basis to appoint a Management Accountant with CST Global.

CST Global is a fast-growing manufacturer of III-V compound semiconductors for the photonics industry, supplying both optical communications and sensing markets. The company, based in Blantyre, Glasgow, provides both a custom foundry service, as well a range of high-volume, standard laser products.

CST Global is enjoying an exciting period of rapid expansion. In 2016, the business posted a turnover of £3.6m, which has grown to £6.7m in 2017. It is projecting equally rapid growth over the coming year.

CST Global is passionate about developing and manufacturing ground-breaking, III-V compound, semiconductor products. The company receives significant government funding for research projects, working with commercial and academic partners, such as the University of Glasgow. It currently has fourteen, active, research projects.

In 2017, CST Global was acquired by Swedish, Nasdaq First North listed, Sivers IMA Holding, and is now a wholly-owned subsidiary. Many new job opportunities have been created as a result of Sivers IMA investment and CST Global’s growth.

CST Global is led by CEO and founder, Neil Martin, who formed the company in 2000.

This is an exciting time for CST as it looks to capitalise on the demand for semiconductors in the broadband communications market and continue to grow in partnership with new owners Sivers IMA. The business is looking to appoint a qualified accountant to support the Financial Controller in leading a small finance team.

The finance team plays a key role in how the business operates and therefore a willingness to develop an understanding of each area of the business is required. The pace and diversity of the company throws up new and exciting challenges on a daily basis.

In addition to providing the successful candidate with skills and experience which will underpin their future finance career, the vacancy offers an exceptional opportunity for personal development and progression. The position has been created with succession planning in mind allowing the Management Accountant to learn from and potentially succeed the current Financial Controller within the next few years.

The Management Accountant position requires an accountant who possesses excellent organisational, interpersonal, and technical skills. The ability to build relationships with and influence internal stakeholders, is a key requirement, as are first class technical accounting skills. As the company is in the midst of a sustained period of growth, there is a significant focus on continuous improvement and development of reporting.

A strong track record of achievement both professionally and academically is required given the nature and requirements of this position.

A summary of the key candidate requirements are as follows:

  • Qualified accountant CA/ACCA/CIMA with commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Strong technical accounting skills with great attention to detail
  • Demonstrable ability to maintain robust financial control environment and drive process improvement/efficiency
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills, managing communications within the finance team and across all departments in the business
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills to support business decision making processes
  • An approachable manner, working as part of a team working to achieve company-wide objectives
  • Inquisitive & with the ability to learn quickly
  • Prior use of Sage Line 50 is advantageous but not essential

 

Duties:

To prepare, analyse and report on key financial data within the organisation ensuring that senior management receive timely, accurate and relevant information.

  • Manage the production and month end delivery of management accounts, including inputting necessary accruals & prepayments, journals, variance analysis and process improvements, within required deadlines
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the production of timely and reliable management information reports
  • Detailed analysis & reporting of departmental P&Ls and cost reporting categories
  • Play a key role in the budget and forecasting process and the monitoring of costs including liaison with budget holders
  • To assist in the preparation of the year end accounts and provision of audit information
  • Administer & co-ordinate the company’s grant aided project funding applications and claims
  • Supporting the business in delivery of its strategic objectives, building strong relationships with operational managers and dealing with queries
  • Development of costing systems and controls in line with growth of the business
  • Undertake ad hoc financial analysis as required.
  • Take a pro-active approach to the continuous improvement of financial processes and procedures
  • Providing support and cover for finance team members

 

Salary:                            £38,000- £42,000

 

Holidays:                        34 days inclusive of stats

 

Life Assurance:               Scheme to be implemented March 2018

 

Working Hours:               9am-5pm Monday-Friday (37.5 hours per week)

 

Pension:                         Employer contribution 3%

 

Bonus:                            Annual performance related, dependent on company and individual objectives
