The Organisation

Our Power is a new energy supply company set up in 2016 as a social enterprise by progressive Scottish social housing providers with the aim of becoming a successful energy supply business that operates efficiently and delivers excellent customer service and affordable, clean and secure energy.

Undertaking business for the benefit of the community they aspire to reduce fuel poverty, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and shield people from rising energy prices, through reducing the cost of energy, improving energy efficiency and developing local sustainable energy resources.

 

The Role & Opportunity

Reporting to the Group Finance and Commercial Director, while working closely with the Head of Trading and Head of Finance, this role is critical in providing analytical support and high-quality management to maximise the opportunities that are available to Our Power through its unique model and structure.

The scope of the role will inevitably change and develop as the business continues to grow but key areas include:

  • Building and developing the financial and scenario models to provide detailed and accurate cashflow and profit/loss positions, both short and long term
  • Building and managing models to provide accurate indications and outturns to enable quick decision making on key inputs such as customer base, tariffs and working capital
  • Assist in the maximising of working capital; this will help shape a positive customer book while meeting key social impact goals
  • Support ongoing product development from a commercial perspective
  • In conjunction with the Head of Trading, develop the pricing framework which feeds into the customer tariffs
  • Providing analytical support to the Group Finance and Commercial Director on fundraising, merger & acquisition and due diligence exercises
  • Providing financial and analytical support to the senior management team on broader market opportunities

Contributing positively to the broader finance team and taking an active role in a whole-organisation approach to delivery

 

The Candidate

Key Experience and Knowledge:

  • A qualified or experienced accountant with demonstrable experience of achievement in an analytically focused role
  • A background of working in data driven, consumer led environments
  • Experience of working in a high paced company with previous energy or B2C industry experience particularly advantageous
  • Complex financial modelling exposure
  • Highly analytical with the ability to get “behind the numbers” to allow well-informed commercial decisions
  • Practical knowledge of complex spreadsheets, data warehousing, business intelligence systems and an advanced Microsoft Excel user
  • Strong and successful partnership working, specifically the ability to effectively engage with and manage relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of the Energy sector is desirable
